Hepatic Amoebiasis
Biopsy of liver abscess show trophozoites (active form of Entamoeba).
Serological test;
IHA and ELISA used for hepatic Amoebiasis.
Antigen detection;
Detected in serum by ELISA.
Treatment
Mild cases of amoebic dysentery are treated with idoquinol or diloxanide furoate.
In severe Amoebiasis, it is treated with metronidazole in combination with chloroquine or diloxanide furoate or emetine.
