Ability to grow at 45 degree Celsius and at PH 9.6
Source and Modes of Transmission
Enterococci are present in normal fecal flora.
They can colonize in oral mucus membrane
Pathogenesis
It causes UTI (urinary tract infection), bactermia, sepsis, biliary tract infection or inter abdominal abscess, genitourinary infection, endocarditis.
Prevention and treatment
Judicious use of antibiotics is an important factor in controlling the enterococcal Nosocomial infections.
