VAP Bundle

Preventing ventilator associated Pneumonia (VAP bundle)

Prevention from ventilator associated pneumonia, insertion care bundle include;

1. Hand hygiene

2. Appropriate PPE

3. Use sterile items/ equipments (Laryngoscope, stylet should EtO before using it)

4. Choose ET tube of appropriate size

5. Use new ET tube, ventilator circuit, HME filter for every patient

Component of VAP Bundle

VAP bundle interventions include;

1. Elevation of patient's head of bed (HOB) to 30- 45 degrees

2. Daily sedation vacation

3. Daily spontaneous breathing trial

(Daily assessment of readiness to extubation)

4. Peptic ulcer prophylaxis; GI prophylaxis 

5. Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) prophylaxis
