Functions of Tissue - Epithelial, Connective, Muscle, Nervous Tissue

Tissue

There are 4 basic types of tissue, these are-

1. Epithelial tissue

2. Connective tissue

3. Muscle tissue, and

4. Nervous tissue

Function of Epithelium Tissue

The major function of epithelial tissue or epithelium tissue is-

1. Cover’s body surfaces

2. Lines hollow organs, body activities, and ducts

3. Forms ducts and certain glands

4. Protection

5. Secretion, and

6. Absorption

Check out here types of membranous epithelial tissue and types of glandular epithelium tissue.

Function of Connective Tissue

The major function of connective tissue-

1. Binding of organ, example cartilage and bone

2. Physical protection, barrier to entry microorganism, dermis of skin

3. Storage, adipose tissue, major site of stored energy reserve

4. Insulating

5. Transport, blood major transport system

6. Compartmentalize structure, example; skeletal muscle

7. Supporting of organ

8. Defence and immune protection, immunity and wound repair, macrophages, lymphocytes, fibroblasts by mediating inflammation

9. Enclosing and separating organ

10. Highly vascular

Function of Muscular Tissue

The major function of muscular tissue are-

1. Ability to contract

2. Generate heat

3. Muscle movement

4. Provide Support

5. Help in contraction and relaxation

6. Provide Protection

7. Provide stability and durability

8. Maintenance of posture

9. Helps in respiration

10. Generate force

11. Elastic ability

12. Communication verbal and facial

13. Joint stabilization

 14. Support to bone

Function of Nervous Tissue

The major functions of nervous tissue-

1. Muscle movement

2. Coordination nerve, spinal cord, brain

3. Mental activity

4. Control and integrate all body activity

5. Homeostasis

6. Motor function

7. Respond

8. Sensory receptors

9. Support and protect impulse, generating neuron

10. Generate and transmit nerve impulse

11. Regulates and control body function
