Cardiac output

Cardiac Output

Cardiac output is the amount of blood pumped out by each ventricular in1 minute.

It is the product of Heart rate (HR) and Stroke volume (SV).

Cardiac Output = Heart rate x stroke volume

    .                              (HR)           (SV)

Stroke Volume (SV)

The amount of blood expelled with each ventricular contraction is called the stroke volume.

Heart Rate

During resting 75ml of blood will be pump with each Heart Beat and average rate of Heart rate will be 70 beats/minute.

5.25L of blood pumped in one minute.

315 L of blood pumped in one hours.

7560L of blood pumped per day.

27,59000L of blood pumped per year.

How to calculate cardiac output

If the Heart rate of person is 75 beats per minutes and Stroke volume is 70 ml per beat, then cardiac output will be,

CO = HR X SV

    .    75 beat/ min  x  70 ml/ beat

    .    5250ml

    .    5.25L/ min
