Pulmonary circuit/ pulmonary circulation
Move blood between heart and lungs.
It carries deoxygenated blood from heart to lungs.
Where CO2 is removed and oxygen is added.
It then returns newly oxygenated blood to heart for distribution to the rest of the body.
It function bring blood into close contact with alveoli of lungs so that gases can be exchanged.
Main blood vessels of pulmonary circulation
1. Pulmonary trunk and two pulmonary arteries
2. Pulmonary capillaries
3. Four pulmonary veins
1. Pulmonary trunk and two pulmonary arteries
These arteries carry deoxygenated blood from right ventricle of Heart to lungs.
2. Pulmonary capillaries
Site of exchange of O2 and CO2 in lungs. Here exchanges of gas take place.
O2 moves from the alveolar air to the blood and CO2 moves from the blood to the alveolar air.
3. Four Pulmonary veins
Four pulmonary veins carry oxygenated blood from lungs to left atrium of Heart.
