Posterior pituitary and Hypothalamic hormone
Posterior pituitary gland stores antidiuretic hormone (ADH) and oxytocin hormone that have been synthesized and forwarded by hypothalamic neurons.
These hormone later released on demand in response to nerve impulses from same hypothalamic neurons.
ADH influences body water balance and oxytocin stimulates contraction of smooth muscle, particularly of uterus and breast.
Oxytocin and ADH hormone synthesized in nerve cell bodies in hypothalamus and stored in axon terminal within posterior pituitary gland.
