 Play


Play is an activity in which anyone is engaged for enjoyment without considering its end results.

Play helps in child grows, develop and learns.


Types of Play

1. Active play

1. Active play

Children get enjoyment from what they do.

Types of active play

1. Exploratory play

Involves child using all their senses.

For example; child look at toy - shake it- see what noise it makes - suck it- squeeze it.


2. Construction play

Begin to use toys construct thing, want to use toy to make things instead of throwing or biting blocks, use them to build towers, bridge, train etc.


3. Dramatic play

For example; 

Toy phone used to call and talk 

Article and children turn into any character of drama.


4. Family games

(Before two years of age)

For example; guess which hand, and hidden objects

5. Neighborhood games

4-5 years age

For example; want to play with children of their own age.


2. Passive play

Children get enjoyment from watching or listening to someone.

1. Watching others

Learn how to do things and learn new meaning.

2. Looking at pictures

Books, megazines, learn to associated words with their meaning.

3. Listening at stories
