BT set is use in delivering measured and regulated blood and blood components to the patient.
BT set have cylindrical drip chamber with or without vent and filter to prevent the passage of any clot into the patient. Blood transfusion sets contain 170 - 260 micron filters.
Types of BT Set
BT set can come with an air vent or without it.
1 Vented B.T. set
2. Non-vented B.T. set
Parts of Blood Transfusion Set
1. Spike
2. Chamber with filter
Chamber is first part of the blood transfusion set wherein the blood drips into and collects. It serves as a venue to count the flow rate.
Filter located inside the drip chamber. Its work as to remove any clots, small clumps formed.
3. Roller clamp
Roller clamp is between the drip chamber and the injection site.
Use it to control and regulate the flow rate of the blood being transfused.
4. Tubing
5. Luer slip tip
6. Needle connector
Connects the blood transfusion set to the patient's needle.
7. Air vent
Air vent is the structure that is located at the base of spike. It serves as an inlet of air going inside the bag of the blood being transfused.
