Parts of Syringe Infusion Pump
1. Pusher Block
Contacts the plunger, initiating flow.
2. Syringe Clamps
Hold syringes in place during operation.
3.Release Nut
Allows manual positioning of syringe pusher block.
4. Interface
Program in flow rates and volumes.
Pusher block, syringe holder, and an internal stepper motor, alarm settings.
The pusher block contacts the plunger and initiates the flow while the motor drives the plate. The syringe holder keeps the syringe in its place during the operation of the device.
Setting up the Syringe Pump
1. See the prescribed medicine amount and Infusion rate.
2. Fill the 50 ml syringe with prescribed medicine amount and write the medicine neme, dose, infusion rate in syringe.
3. Loaded syringe connect to the pressure monitoring line/PMO line.
4. Press the ON/OFF button to start the infusion pump .
5. Unlock the pusher block and place the syringe in the syringe bed.
6. Move the pusher block into such a position that syringe plunger can contact with pusher blocker.
5. Set the prescribed flow rate from interfaces. Delivery of fluid at the set flow rate and start infusion.
6. It is essential to keep air out of an infusion line.
7. Other ends of PMO line connect to IV port vascular access of patient.
8. Document the amount, flow rate in patients file.
7. Start/Stop Press “Start/Stop” button to start and off the pump.
