Types of Immune Response
Body shows two types of immune responses when it encounters an antigen. Immune response may be beneficial, harmful or non- reactive.
Types of Immune Response
There are two type of immune response;
1. Primary immune response
2. Secondary immune response
Primary immune response
1. Induced by when body comes in contact with an antigen for the first time.
2. It takes longer time for Tand B cells to come into action.
3. Deal antigen first time
4. Currently there are no memory cells.
5. Absence of immunologic memory
6. Ability of immune system to differenciate between Self and non self material.
7. Less strong
IgM class antibodies produced.
8. Symptoms more;
Graph; Lag, Log, Stationary, Decline
Secondary immune response
1. Induce by the second exposure to the same antigen.
2. Very quickly response and long lasting.
3. Deal same antigen second time.
For example; second booster dose of vaccine.
4. Immunologic memory.
5. The secondary immune response occurs after primary immune response.
6. Stronger than primary immne response.
7. IgG class of antibodies produced
8. Immune system of host cell has immunological memory for same system.
