Eye donation involve donating cornea, not iris or whole eye. Donate cornea after death only, immediately collect within 6 hours of death.
Only cornea used for transplantation.
Transplantation cornea to patient with corneal defect.
Eye Bank is site of collection, processing and assignment of donated eyes.
By donating eyes, enlightened life of two blind person.
Eyes are not brought or sold.
Eye removal take 25-20 minutes.
Leaves no scarring, donot cause any disfigurement of face of donar after eye donate.
Management
1. Avoid sneezing, coughing (increase IOP).
2. Eye care technique
3. Wear dark glass after eye dressing removed
4. Avoid lifting heavy weight
5. Administer antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, analgesics
6. Eye drop instillation techniques
7. Use aseptic techniques
