 Cord Insertion Type

1. Normal Insertion

Central 

2. Eccentric Insertion

Edge of placenta,

Lateral insertion of umbilical cord >2cm from placenta margin.

3. Marginal Insertion/ Battledore Insertion 

Umbilical Cord attaches at margin of placenta.

4. Valamentous Insertion

Umbilical Cord doesn't attach to placenta.

Doesn't insert into placenta correctly.

Exposed blood vessels.
