Variant of COVID 19 - COVID-19 Outbreak
With the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, COVID-19)
around the world, people have struggled with expanding the list of symptoms and
having long-term complications and the effects of different COVID mutations
spread around the world.

Symptoms, Mild to Serious Symptoms.
What makes the New Mutant of COVID 19 strains so Scary?

Multiple variants of the COVID -19
(SARs-COV-2) viruses have been circulating in and around the world.
As we have seen the recent rise in the number of
COVID cases and the prevalence of complications in the most vulnerable
as well as in also younger individuals affected.
It is an indication that the newer COVID
variants have come with greater risks to people's health and are associated
with an increased risk of complication and cause death compared to the original
strain.
COVID-19 Virus Variants
According to the Centre for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC), multiple variations of the original COVID-19 virus have been
detected around the world.
CDC has defined COVID-19 Virus
variants in three classes of -
1. Variant of Interest (VOI)
In this variant, reduced the neutralization by
antibodies generated against previous infection or vaccination, reduced
efficacy of treatments. It increases the chances of transmissibility or disease
severity.
2. Variant of Concern (VOC)
In this variant, increase in transmissibility,
more severe disease (increased hospitalizations or deaths). Its identification,
reduction in neutralization by antibodies generated during previous infection
or vaccination, reduced effectiveness of treatments or vaccines, or diagnostic
detection failures.
3. Variant of High Consequence (VOHC)
According to the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC), Rise to the level of “high consequence” means being resistant
to “multiple” treatments.
Currently, no coronavirus (COVID-19) variants
have been classified yet. "Variant of high consequence," states
the highest threat level.
Viruses have characteristics to change and evolve
through mutations and newer strains.
According to the WHO, When a makes copies of itself or virus
replicates, it sometimes little bit changes in genetic material of virus, which
is normal for a virus. These changes are called “mutations”.
COVID-19 is a type of large family of viruses.
The mutations that have taken place from the old or the original strain to the
new strain are called COVID mutations or 'variants' of the original virus.
A virus that with one or more new mutations is
referred to as a “variant” of the original virus."
New Symptoms of Corona Virus - COVID 19
We know that the most common symptoms of
COVID-19 like fever, dizziness, fatigue, malaise, nausea, cough, fatigue,
and loss of sense of smell and taste, many are fighting with severe
respiratory complications such as shortness of breath, chest pain, and difficulty
in breathing. These all are signs of oxygen deprivation.
Evidenced states the rise in the demand for
oxygen cylinders in and around the country signals the distress state of COVID
patients in India.
These are the new symptoms of coronaVirus-
1. Nausea and vomiting
Nausea and vomiting signs are
now being looked at as early stages of COVID-19 infection.
2. Lung penetration and
respiratory failure
Lung penetration and
respiratory failure is much faster in 2 waves of COVID-19. In 2nd wave, we
have also seen that vulnerable groups and younger are getting infected which
was rare in the first wave.
In the 1st wave, of COVID-19,
symptoms were fever, chills, cough, body ache, and loss of smell and taste.
In the 2nd wave, there are
more symptoms as compared to 1st wave-like pink eyes (conjunctivitis), loose
motions (Diarrhoea), and hearing impairment.
3. No saliva production /Dry mouth (Xerostomia)
As per studies Dry mouth was
assessed in hospitalized patients with COVID-19 daily. Dry mouth (Xerostomia)
has been reported as a symptom of COVID-19.
Experts believe body fails to
produce saliva that protects your mouth from bad bacteria. People with these
symptoms might find it difficult to chew their food or speak properly.
4. Body pain/muscle pain
Doctors reported that people who have been
tested positive for COVID-19 have been experiencing severe body, muscle, and
joint pain. The main reason for muscle and body aches is myalgia (also called
muscle pain and muscle ache), which results from the coronavirus attacking your
body, important muscle fibers, and tissue linings.
Researchers report that triple mutation
in SARS-CoV-2 seen in the 2nd wave of COVID-19 in India.
Researchers sequenced the viral genome from
samples in the state of Maharashtra and found a unique combination of three
mutations variants that suggest the SARS-CoV-2 virus is continually evolving to
evade the human immune response.
Triple mutation COVID
variant has been traced in parts of Maharashtra, West Bengal
and Delhi, which is being called a major immune escape variant. It has
the ability to evade antibodies produced by people who have already recovered
from COVID-19 infections.

New Variants of Corona Virus Effect
New variants of corona
virus cause more severe symptoms and Impact on the younger population.
SARs-COV-2 is a highly infectious disease, but the different mutations variant
has made it more transmissible.
Now it is very to understand how the symptoms of
different new variants vary from the original one.
With the sudden increase in the new cases of
COVID-19, there are also come new symptoms and complications that have been
brought by the second wave of the pandemic.
The 2nd wave of coronavirus is much dangerous
and contagious than the first one. It is affecting the older and younger
population, more than usual.
Evidence has shown that that the new variants of
coronavirus, which means “the second wave of coronavirus” in India enable a
faster spread of the virus from one person to another.
Considering that the new COVID mutations
variants have the ability to escape antibodies means they have the ability to
a reduction in neutralization by antibodies and are more infectious
than the original strain.
Most vulnerable groups of people are affected
and increase the in COVID hospitalization amongst younger individuals too.
While vaccination drives are yet to open for the
vulnerable groups and younger age groups, experts suggest that the best way to
tackle the current crisis is by taking precautionary measures and preventions.
