Acute Bronchitis or chest cold
Inflammation of one or more bronchi characterized by by dry cough and wheezer. Worst at night. it is febrile illness.
Etiology
Specially children less than 4 years.
Bacterial; mycoplasma pneumonia
Viral; adenovirus, Respiratory syncytial viruses, Rhinovirus
Communicable disease; pertussis, measles, Diphtheria, Typhoid
Physical or chemical agent dust/ allergen/ strong fume
Clinical manifestation
1. Runny nose (usually before start cought)
2.Malaise
3.Chills/fever
4. Back and muscle pain
5. Sore throat
7. Wheezing
In earlier stage; non - productive
1. Dry cough; progress excessive mucus filled Cavity.
Symptoms usually lasts for 7-14 days.
Diagnostic Evaluation
1. Child history taking and physical examination
2. Chest auscultation; for wide spread bronchi and cracked sound.
3. Chest X ray; observe for increased bronchial marking.
Management
1. Antibiotics
2. Cough expectorant
3. Antipyretic medicine
4. Steam inhalation
5. Nebulization
