controls of pituitary secretion

 Control of pituitary secretion

Pituitary stimulates another Endocrine gland to secrete it's hormone and that hormone feedback to Pituitary and inhibit further secretion of trophic hormone.

For example, TRH (thyrotropin releasing hormone) from hypothalamus stimulates release of TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) from anterior pituitary.

TSH stimulate the release of thyroid hormone from thyroid gland.

Thyroid hormone cause negative feedback, inhibit release of TRH and TSH.

Hypothalamus

Releasing hormones

Anterior lobe of pituitary gland

Tropic hormone to target (endocrine gland)

Target gland

Raised blood level of target gland hormones

Use of hormone

Lowered blood level of target gland hormones

(Negative feedback regulation of secretion of hormones by anterior lobe of pituitary gland).
