Vented IV Sets
Vented IV sets have a small blue air vent. Medical personnel can open and close it to allow air to enter and displace the fluid upon leaving the container.
The liquid will not flow from a rigid fluid container without an air vent.
IV infusion set with an air vent integrated above the drip chamber to allow adequate pressure inside the chamber for smooth, uninterrupted fluid flow. Prevent from air embolism.
Non vented IV set
Non-vented IV sets do not have an air vent that allows opening and closing.
Non-vented IV set requires that the IV fluid completely fills in the tubing to get rid of and remove, air prior to attaching the IV tube to the patient.
