DNA Virus
DNA virus is a virus that has a genome made of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA).
Those DNA virus have two strands of DNA in their genome, called double-stranded DNA viruses,
and those DNA viruses have one strand of DNA in their genome, called single-stranded DNA viruses.
1. Poxviridae family
Largest virus responsible for skin infections and molluscum contagiosum.
For example;
Small pox
Cow pox
Vaccinia
2. Herpes viridae family
Cause herpes and chicken pox infection in nerve ganglia.
For example;
Herpes simple virus
CMV (cytomegalovirus)
EBV (Epstein Barr virus)
3. Hepadna viridae family
Include hepatitis B virus
It is only hepatitis B virus which contain DNA.
It is blood borne pathogen.
4. Parvoviridae family
Vary small viruses causing slapped cheek disease.
5. Papovaviridae family
Small viruses causing skin and genital warts.
Oncogenic.
6. Adenoviridae family
Effect children and cause respiratory tract infection, diarrhoea and conjuctivitis.
