Tinea Nigra
(Infection in palm or sole)
Tinea nigra infection is fungal Infection.
Brown or black patches to develop on palms of hand or sole of feet.
The lesion is flat and not scaly.
Laboratory Diagnosis
Specimen collection
KOH preparation
Direct microscopic examination of KOH preparation shows brownish and branched hyphae and budding cells.
Culture on Sabouraud's dextrose agar (SDA)
Produce moist, black yeast colonies at 35 degre celcius after 3 week of incubation.
Treatment
For treatment 30% sulfur and 2% salicylic acid, tincture of iodine may be benificial.
Avoid contact with infected material, exposure to soil, rotten wood, compost, dirt.
Wear gloves while handling
