Causative Agent; Rhizopusoryzae
Source and mode of Transmission
Major sources are spores, which found in on rotten fruits and old bread.
Pathogenesis
This infection occurs in immunosuppressed patients like;
Burn patient
Lieukemia
Diabetes mellitus
Patient with ketoacidosis
Infection begins in nasal mucosa or sinuses, palate and brain.
Laboratory Diagnosis
Specimen collection
Skin lesions, scrapping and skin biopsy.
KOH preparation
Show mycelial fragment and spores
Culture on SDA
Show colony cottonies, hyphae.
Treatment
Amphotericin B may be useful
