DNA Polyploidy
Polyploidy is a condition in which cells of organism have more than two paired (homologus) sets of chromosomes.
Or,
Polyploids are organism whose genomes consists of more than two complete sets of chromosome.
Types of DNA Polyploidy
1. Autopolyploids
Even-number; the multiplication haploid number of chromosomes.
a. Tetraploidy
(23×4 or 92 chromosomes)
b. Hexaploidy
(23×6 or 138 chromosomes)
c. Octaploidy
(23×8 or 184 chromosomes)
2. Allopolyploids
Odd numbered multplies of haploid number of chromosomes.
a. Triploidy (23×3 or 69 chromosomes)
b. Pentaploidy (23×5 or 115 chromosomes)
c. Heptaploidy (23×7 or 161 chromosomes)
3. Segmental allopolyploids
