Normal Karyotype
Normal human karyotype consist of 22 pairs of autosomes and two sex chromosomes.
Karyotype is a test to identify and evaluate the size, shape and number of chromosomes in a sample of body cells.
Extra or missing chromosome or abnormal position of chromosomes pieces, can cause problems with a person's growth, development and body function.
Female Karyotype
The most common karyotypes for females contain two X chromosomes and are denoted 46, XX (normal).
Male Karyotype
Males usually have both an X and Y chromosome denoted 46, XY (normal).
A picture of all 46 chromosomes in their pairs is called karyotype.
