tumor suppressor genes

Tumor suppressor Gene or anti-oncogene

TSG genes that slow down cell division, rapair DNA mistakes or tell cells when to die (apoptosis or programmed cell).

When tumor suppressor gene don't work properly, cell can grow out of control, can lead to cancer.

For example; BRCA 1/BRCA 2 genes; breast cancer

TP53; regulate cell division

P53; DNA repair/Apoptosis

AP- colon cancer

MAD2; colon cancer

Rb; Retinoblastoma

Function of Tumor suppressor gene

1.Cell cycle regulation gene

2. Checkpoint control gene

3. Apoptosis related gene

4. DNA repair protein
