They have unique and special structure; endoflagella
Bundle of endoflagella lies along entire length of bacilli and anchored at both ends.
They are highly motile, spiral shaped.
There genera of spirochaetes are major human pathogen.
1. Treponema palladium (causing syphilis)
2. Borrelia burgdorferi (causing lyme disease)
Borrelia recurrentis (causing relapsing fever)
3. Leptospira interrogans (causing leptospirosis)
