Sporotrichosis
Sporotrichosis is a nodular, ulceration disease of skin and subcutaneous tissue. The fungus gains access through thron pricks or some injury.
It is dimorphic fungus.
Morphology
This Infection is caused by sporotherix schenckii; a dimorphic fungus.
S. Schenckii occurs in tissue as yeast at 37 degree Celsius.
And in mycelial phase in culture at 22-25 degree Celsius.
Laboratory Diagnosis
Specimen collection
(Include pus or skin, biopsy)
KOH preparation
(Show agar shaped yeast cells)
Culture on SRD
Show flower like cluster
Treatment
Oral itraconazole is drug of choice.
