Chalazion is cyst in eyelids called meibomian cyst, caused inflammation due to blocked or obstruction of meibomian gland, result swelling of an oil gland in the eyelid, mostly occurs occurs in upper eyelids.

Chalazion not caused due to infection, but swelling of meibomian gland (sebaceous gland).

Bacteria Staphylococcus can one of reason of chalazion.

Etiology

1. Due to obstruction of meibomian gland

2. Staphylococcus infection

Clinical Manifestations

1. Swelling of upper and lower eyelids

2. Localized hard lump

3. Redness of eye

4. Hard and non tender

5. Eye irritation

Management

1. Eyelid cleaning

Warm compression

2. Antibiotics ointmentChalazion
