Ectropion
Ectropian is a condition in which eyelid margin turns outward.
Types of Ectropion
1. Spastic ectropion
Due to contraction of orbicularis muscle.
2. Senile ectropion
Loss of muscle tone orbicularis muscle.
3. Paralytic ectropion
Result of weakness of orbicularis muscle due to paralysis of facial nerve.
4. Cicatricial ectropion
Skin scarring due to thermal burns, chemical burns or injury.
Clinical Manifestations
1. Epiphoria; overflow of tear
2. Chronic conjunctivitis due to exposure
3. Conjunctiva become dry
4. Corneal ulcer
5. Eye irritation
6. Sensitivity to light
Management
1. Treatment of Blepharospasm
2. Modified wheelers operation
3. Lateral tarsorrhaphy; joining of lateral parts of upper and lower eyelid.
